A unique approach to getting great zzzzzleep

Many people find it hard to get a good night’s sleep.  Some take ages to drift off, others wake in the night, while some wake for the day long before they’ve had enough sleep.  In fact, there are 12 major causes of poor sleep.

SleepDrops founder Kirsten Taylor says sleep is a complicated and multi-faceted process so there’s no “one size fits all” solution.

SleepDrops came about when, as a trained naturopath, Kirsten helped many people with their sleep problems. She spent years developing and refining a range of SleepDrops sleep formulations so that people could customise sleep programmes to meet their personal needs.

The products worked so well that demand took off and Kirsten put her naturopathic practise on hold so she could focus on SleepDrops.

Kirsten notes that SleepDrops can work from the very first night but recommends people take them for a minimum of four weeks before expecting results. This is because people typically experience sleep problems for years before seeking help, so it takes time to turn things around.

Even though Kirsten has been incredibly busy growing the SleepDrops business, she has never lost sight of how a naturopathic approach contributes to refreshing, rejuvenative natural sleep. This is especially true for people whose sleep is affected by disease or major health problems such as sleep apnoea.

As a result, she has recently opened The Sleep and Wellness Centre. The centre is unique in several ways, including offering New Zealand’s first medical and integrative sleep and wellness approach.  It also has state-of-the-art sleep pods, designed and built by Kirsten.

It has been a busy year getting the centre up and running but SleepDrops has remained at the heart of it all, says Kirsten.

In addition to launching the SleepDrops Premium range, she has been up to China five times this year.

“At any one time there are an estimated 400 million insomniacs in China so it’s an exciting market for us.”

Needless to say, Kirsten sleeps very well on her long-haul flights to and from China!

Sleep pods are a luxurious space that can be booked by tired, overloaded people who want an opportunity to sleep.  The cosy pods include an infra-red healing mattress and guided sleep meditations.
